Calcium is a structural element in every plant cell. When levels fall short, plants cannot build strong roots, transport nutrients effectively, or defend against environmental stress.
What calcium does
Calcium builds cell walls, enables nutrient transport, and helps the plant respond to stress. It is not optional. It is structural.
Berkana includes naturally chelated calcium. For most conditions, that is enough. High-intensity environments sometimes demand more. That is where Uruz comes in.
How to spot calcium deficiency
Symptoms appear on new growth first. They are subtle in fast-growing plants and hydro systems.
- New growth looks twisted or weak
- Brown spots on young leaves
- Thin, fragile stems
- Curling or hooked leaf edges
- Slowed vertical growth or poor root structure
Low pH or soft/RO water reduces calcium availability even when it is technically present in your mix. If your water source is soft, supplement proactively.
What Uruz does
Uruz is a dry calcium supplement designed for high-demand conditions. It is optimized for compatibility with Berkana and Jera.
- Stronger cell walls. Sturdier stems and branches.
- Healthier roots. Better nutrient uptake and growth response.
- Faster recovery. Supports plants under environmental stress.
- Targeted support. Especially useful in coco, RO water, or high-light setups.
When to use it
Dosage
- Mix 1 gram per liter of water.
- Apply with regular feeding during early vegetative growth.
- Pause during bloom unless deficiency symptoms persist.
Can too much calcium hurt?
Yes. Calcium excess blocks other nutrients like magnesium and potassium. Watch for:
- Rust spots despite feeding
- Stalled nutrient uptake
- Chlorosis between leaf veins
Monitor runoff EC. Adjust feeding ratios as needed. If unsure, flush lightly and reintroduce a balanced mix.
Mixing order
Dissolve Uruz first. Stir until fully dissolved. Then add Berkana. Both are compatible and stable together in solution.
